Paradise Meadows

My last week off work we tried to get out and explore the valley a bit more. One thing we heard about was hiking in paradise meadows. It's up by Mt. Washington in Strathcona Park. It's so crazy that our house is like 40 ft above sea level and yet in 1/2 hour of driving we were up about 5000 ft. It has an amazing view up there and if the weather was a bit less hazy, we would have taken picts. You can look out and see the water and mountains on the mainland. So when you come visit, be prepared to do a little hiking. The kids each carried their own backpacks with water and apparently their teddies. In total we hiked about 3 1/2 km, kids did it all themselves, well Brecken needed some help the last little bit. It's also mostly boardwalk, so very easy walking.

Tavie had this butterfly land on her knee right at the end of the hike. It closed up just as the pic was taken.

  1. Good for the kids! We took Sophie up to Crandell when we were up and Sophie hiked up but we carried her the entire way back! Hope Loni is feeling good! Looks so beautiful there!
