Canadian Open

On friday we headed up to Nanaimo to meet up with one of my oldest friends. His family had been in Tofino for a week so we were excited to see them and meet his new baby girl. She is adorable! Taive loved her. After the quick visit we traveled down to Parksville to take in the Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition. They were AMAZING! Master Sand Sculptors travel from all corners of the globe to participate in the remarkable competition. Sculptors have just 24 hours over three days to create their masterpieces from just sand and water. The picture of this one just does not do it justice. It was incredible.

When you go through the gates you are each given a token to vote on which one is your favorite. This one won Breckens vote.

Tavie's vote....a mermaid

Huxley's vote...a FISH!

Right next to the sand sculptures is the spray park. It was such a beautiful day so the kids took a few mins to cool off.

Brecken spent most of his time on the slide.

Huxley did play in the water a bit, but spent most of his time drinking a slush puppy.

It was a good day. :)

  1. Looks more like a FANTASTIC day. You really can't beat "island livin'!" Lucky you.
